Dishkyaaon

Dishkyaaon is located in the heart of BKC alongside other popular restaurants. We visited during lunchtime on a working day and the whole street was packed with cars and pedestrians office goers on their lunch breaks typically bankers strutting around in suits.
The ambience is lively, colourful and funky. The food is incredible or at least what we ordered was superb. The menu is not vast but the dishes are branded innovatively and it's more like a fusion of east and west.

The Chicken Masala with Cheese Kulchas is lipsmackingly delicious.

The Old School Prawn Curry and Rice too was a lovely respite from the usual coastal style preparation.

Korner House - Cozy Yet Classy

The once upon a time Nido off-Carter Road Khar, is now replaced by The Korner House, and it's just as good and has retained its chic vibe. It's a classy fine dine restaurant that not just offers you gourmet meals, but allows you the privacy of a quiet cozy date as well as a relaxed ambiance to just unwind with your girlies.

The decor and the outdoor seating, gives it a European feel, and brought back memories of my holidays in England and Paris.

We started with the Mushroom Croquetas, a veg friendly dish with a cheesy center. Artistically presented these little crispy, creamy-centered croquettes just melt in your mouth.

The Tuna Melt is open-faced with crusty toasted bread, deliciously creamy with generous portion of tuna chunks topped with egg. This is accompanied with a brilliantly tossed salad in a tiny jar that was perfect to beat the afternoon heat.

For the eggetarian guest Scrambled Eggs on Toast was the choice of the day. Soft, Creamy and Fluffy it was made to perfection and served with Röschti.

Korner House is all about finesse, flavours and spectacular presentation.

Masala Library - Treat for The Eyes

Masala Library by Jiggs Kalra at BKC is one place you need to make a reservation almost a week in advance especially if you plan to dine on a weekend. After cancelling thrice due to some or the other reason finally made it here for a Sunday lunch.
At the onset given the hype and hullabaloo around the whole dining experience, we were expecting a very plush and classy interior, however its quite the contrary.

We opted for the chefs set tasting menu both veg and non-veg so as to get a flavor of both since these comprise of their signature dishes. The hospitality and customer service is outstanding; with the person attending the table (Abhishek) walking you through each preparation and offering suggestions on dishes where you have to choose between either or options.

The soup, salad and appetizers are literally molecular portions and that's precisely why one can try all the varieties offered.
The Mushroom Tea is another very innovative preparation and delicious to say the least when you sit and sip it over meaningful conversation...a must try!

Plum Sorbet to cleanse the palate

Martini Cocktail

The presentation for every dish in the main course was spectacular!!

Pizza Parantha

Cheesy & Chicken Stuffed Parantha

The desserts here are out of this world, not just in taste but innovation and presentation as well.
Rasmalai

Jalebi Caveat with Pistachio Rabdi and Saffron Foam served in a big seashell is an absolute treat to the eyes!

To add to it the Pan Flavoured Cotton Candy cutely presented is a pleasant surprise as a mouth freshener.

Olive Bistro

A friend had mentioned that Olives is now in goregaon and I refused to believe it coz I've been to the other 2 outlets several times, and was so sure it couldn't possibly be true. Well maybe not the original Olive Bar & Kitchen but hell yeh Olive Bistro a version of the same, sure has opened up.
It redefines itself by opening an economically priced outlet in western suburbs...at the Oberoi Mall. The decor, ambiance and food haven't been compromised even a wee bit. If you want to skip wines then you should try out their refreshing cocktails, though their Sangrias are spot on!

Classic Caesar Salad

Glazed Pork Spare Ribs - well done and succulent in spiced pineapple and BBQ sauce

Grilled Lemon Garlic Prawns on Skewers

Twice Cooked Chicken Wings are to die for!

Garlic Bread with Cheese

Spinach and Ricotta Ravioli
This handmade pasta parcel in Parmesan Cream Sauce with Zucchini Ribbons is rich, creamy and delicious even for a non vegetarian palate

Lamb Bolognaise
Penne tossed in garlic and chilli flakes topped with rustic ground lamb meat

Keep it Chic

Confused about what to wear for a lunch meeting?
First thing you ought to understand is, that you’re part working and part relaxing. So the best possible look has to offer a balance of both.

I've paired a sleek black jumpsuit with a silver belt and nude peep toe pumps. Over sized black shades and a leather bag to complete the look. Accessories include silver & black pearl drops and silver and rose gold watch.

Beauty Haul - Terrific Tresses

It’s been a long while since I bought any new beauty products, but my hair care routine has become almost non-existent lately. My thin, flat locks have been in desperate need of a bit of volumising action. L'Oréal being my mums preferred brand that's usually the brand at home for most beauty products.

My sis has been all praise about TRESemmé Keratin Shampoo & Conditioner so I headed straight to my phone and ordered a TRESemmé Iconic Shampoo & Conditioner for myself to sort out my hair woes.

Turned out to be the best decision I ever made. The product is extremely lightweight and doesn't weigh hair down unlike some other products. My hair is noticeably softer and smoother with added body and bounce.

AKA

I'd never heard of AKA and came across this through zomato while browsing for a brunch venue. Located opposite the Nehru planetarium AKA is clearly a SoBo restaurant that serves classic continental cuisine.

The large mirrors make the place look spacious while the bright, geometric patterned upholstery matches with the walls, giving the eatery an elegant vibe. It is brightly lit up and the varied colours in the décor, make it feel fun and vibrant.

I opted for the Chandon Sunday Brunch and it was quite a healthy treat.
The Tapas & Salad spread as well as the Cheese & Charcuterie platter was superb and each one had its unique ingredients and flavours.

 Watermelon Goast Cheese Olive Dust

 Beet & Ranch Salad

Chives Cream Cheese Blinis With Balsamic Pearls

The Hickory Flavoured Pumpkin Soup was creamy and mildly flavoured and a true healthy treat.

Blueberry Pancake with fresh cream which was freshly made and delicious.

Among the appetizers I had the Spicy Fish Slivers and

Pesto Chicken Skewers although they weren't much of a hit at my table.

Moving on to entrées, the Aglio Olio Capellini Verde was okay but slightly bland on the palate.
The Barrel Chicken with lyonnaise potatoes and pepper infused jus was tender and succulent.

Seared Filet Mignon with garlic mash and sautéed greens was delectable, with the meat being perfectly well done (upon request) and flavoursome.

There were a variety of desserts though the Chocolate Eclair overshadowed all others. Above all the serving staff as well as the restaurant manager are exceptionally attentive and on their toes catering to every table. Great job!!

NRI -Not Really Indian

NRI - Not Really Indian restaurant vibe is relaxed and casual, with plenty of natural light streaming in, the decor has lots of whites and browns and interesting light fixtures like milk cans and a row of bulbs bunched together.

From the signature cocktails I tried the English Summer which was a refreshing concoction of gin with elder-flower, apple and basil;

Tamarind & Ginger Martini which was delightfully potent combination — a terrific start to the meal.

The Jerk Spiced Chicken Salad with lettuce and raw papaya was lip smacking though I felt it had slightly extra oil.

For mains, I ordered the Sri Lankan Potli which was a delicious thick chicken curry accompanied with Idiyappam

The portion was generous so I ordered a round of naans as well as tried the Roti Canai which was in other words malabari parantha.

Desserts were wheeled to the table on a cart and it comprised of the usual fare blueberry cheesecake, three chocolate mousse, tart etc and nothing looked interesting enough so I gave it a pass.
Having said that the food wasn't a disappointment hence NRI is certainly a must visit to form your own opinion.

Ruka ~ Bright Blue Flower

My second visit at Ruka was when I received a text inviting guests for the all new Sunday Brunch. Smokey cocktails, crunchy tempura, delightful sushi, open kitchen, a bar area, a low-seating lounge is the newest Japanese fine-dining spot in Juhu.

This time round instead of a smokey cocktail they introduced a molecular welcome drink that was smokey, bubbly and looked something like a sangria once it was poured into a goblet though it was a refreshing lychee flavored mocktail.

I started my meal with Lemon Coriander Soup, a hot and sour flavoursome soup with fragrant and freshly ground herbs and spices sans any meat.

This was followed by some delicious and crunchy Mixed Seafood Uramaki mainly Tuna, Salmon and Prawns, though I did try the crunchy veg sushi variety as well.

There were a variety of salads, namely

Kasundi Seafood Salad

Roasted Barbecue Lamb Salad and

Sprouted Beans With Sweet Chilli Salad

The main course was a lavish and wide spread of pan Asian dishes from across the continent. Khao Suey,  Stir Fry Vegetables in Blackbean Sauce,

Murg Dhaniyawala,

Stir Fry Fish in Oyster Chilli Sauce,

Prawns in Thai Green Curry,

Sautéed Chinese Greens,

Subz Dum Biryani, and so on.

Other gastronomic treats at Ruka and must try are the Salmon Teriyaki, Sliced Fish in Parsley Sauce, Butter Garlic Prawns, Vegetable Phad Thai Noodles all of which were flavoured and cooked to perfection.

Among the desserts the Chocolate Truffle Cake and Strawberry Mousse were a treat for the eyes.

The Mango & Chocolate Pannacotta was divine in flavour as well as its silken texture.
